I made it through the entire week of the Sergeant's program! I am the only person who attended all five days, so I got a round of applause at the end of the session. Mind you, I am SO looking forward to this weekend and intend to do nothing!
I have discovered Starbuck's skinny lattes, which I've needed this week, being so wiped out. (I am a major mocha fan.) Yes, you don't need to point out that I've just spent the better part of an hour gasping and wheezing in order to burn off those same 90 calories; I am building muscle and strengthening my cardio system, thank you very much.
Anyway, I came home, rousted the kiddos and got The Littlest Offering on to the bus. I then flopped on the couch with Dally, who was ousted by Kate, who wanted to snuggle up in the sun. Unfortunately for me, Kate farts. (Dally is far too classy to pass gas.) Kate, being a dog, is always surprised to hear the noises emanating from her nether regions, and stares at her butt in perplexity. We've recently changed her diet to Iams' mini-bites and she must still be adjusting. (Note the border collie on the bag.) However, love Kate, love her gas, and so it goes.
Poor TLO suffered greatly this week. She was running on the blacktop at recess on Tuesday when another ssecond grader tripped her and another little girl. TLO went down face first into the blacktop and the third kid went down on top of her. She has a major fat lip, a dandy blood blister on the inside of her top lip, a scratch on her upper gum, abrasions on her side and her arm; and worst of all I think she broke her cute little nose. It wasn't immediately clear to the school nurse, but when you see her now, she has a lovely saddle bruise across the bridge of her nose, and a semi-black eye. My poor little kiddie.
My friend H. paid me a big complement today. Walking back from the bus, she told me she thought I was exceptionally strong to have gotten through the last nine months without losing my mind, keeping it all together at home, etc. Made me feel guilty, remembering how crappy I felt in November and how hard UO had to kick me to get me moving over the smallest details. I told her this and she said "you picked a really good husband." I have to agree.
